A lesson or a series (roughly three) of lessons originally designed to introduce Year 6 students to Secondary science but can be easily adapted for Key Stages 3 and 4.
Students work in small groups collecting information on various dinosaur species to inform their decisions on how to manage the dinosaurs. Students learn about fossil formation (best done with a selection of fossils for students to look at), energy transfer in prehistoric food chains and base-pairing rules. They practice resource-management including the allocation of space for enclosures, energy production and entertainment facilities.
All information collected is summarised on an A3 summary sheet.The final task sees students using the information they have gathered to help them to annotate an A3 laminated map of Isla Nublar with their designs.
