Case Studies for A Level and diploma Geographers: Part One: Dengue Fever an infectious disease

For hard-pressed senior school teachers finding new and original material for A level and I.B. dip. geography lessons can be time consuming. It is the same for senior school students. They want to be able to get access to up to date, detailed and accurate case studies which are focused on the examination specification they are following and they want to drill down to get to the detail which gives them a better understanding of contemporary issues. These case studies aim to help you do that whilst saving you time.

This is part one of a suite of linked resources, which enables teachers and students to study, in depth, one infectious disease, in this case Dengue Fever. Part one is a general introduction to dengue fever with questions and bibliography

Two further units follow on from part one;
2. Part two is a narrated PowerPoint presentation which focuses on Sri Lanka as a case study of one country in the grip of one named infectious disease.
3. Part three is a mapping exercise with attached resources and
suggested tasks (with answers for teachers)

Taken together the units can be used in a number of ways:

• as a resource for teachers to use in constructing lessons
• as part of a guided self -study pack for students to be used for
classwork and homework and/or for group based activities
• for individual enquiry - based work leading to the presentation of a
structured report
