Have fun this Christmas and engage students creatively with this Instagram style, 'tech' mobile phone/tablet Christmas Doodle App 'Art Phone', drawing and writing activity.
This activity invites students to cut out and make their own festive doodle art-phone, and then to complete the 'Texting Santa' questions and to write a 'Dear Santa' letter.
The finished templates measure 4.8 x 9.5 inches.
1. The doodle page:
Illustrate the 9 festive objects with thumbnail doodles or drawings,
Christmas Tree, Bauble, Angel, Snowman, Snowflake, Santa, Gift, Holly, Stocking.
Two options are included:
- a template with drawings to colour (hand drawn by me)
- a template with words to draw your own images
2. Dear Santa - write a letter
3. Texting Santa - answer his questions (honestly!):
Ho Ho Ho! Have you been good this year?
What would you like me to bring you?
What do you love most about Christmas?
How can you help others this Christmas?
4. A Christmas card template is included, entitled 'appy Christmas' - print out, decorate and fold to complete.
Considerations, how to use this activity:
Consider the space around the images you draw
How do the 9 images look collectively?
Is there an emerging theme or style or colour?
What colours do we associate with words?
eg Christmas Tree: green
Work imaginatively!
The included example uses felt tips
The completed art-phones will work well pegged up as a garland or can decorate a wall, door or bulletin board.
Templates are designed by me on Adobe Illustrator, and are vector based, so can be enlarged to any size without pixelating if you prefer to work to a larger scale than the templates provided.
These templates are designed to print on US letter/A4 size paper
