As we approach the end of 2019 we also say goodbye to the decade that was the 2010’s. Take your students on a journey back through the past ten years as we review the biggest stories and events from the tens. We’ll also take a look ahead to 2020 and discuss the stories that will be big news in the year ahead.

1 Write-up about the 2020 Chinese Zodiac and the year of the rat with exercises and conversation questions.

What’s included in the Review Of The 2010’s:

In part 1 there are a number of exercises within one main activity. There are a selection of photos of events from one of the years. The students try to guess what news story each photo is referring to. Then they read the review of the stories before trying to guess the year. There are ten of these in total to represent each of the years from the decade.

Exercises on past simple regular and irregular, superlatives, connecting words, synonyms, antonyms, was/were and many more.

The first part finishes with 20 conversation questions to encourage a group discussion about the 2010’s.

Part 2 starts with a look into the events coming up in 2020 with topics including politics, technology, sport and film. They include future exercises and language.

The second part concludes with ten conversation questions about the year ahead.
