I developed this system for my Year 7 pupils to work through as part of a larger movie premiere unit of work. In collaboration with the English department, pupils worked in teams to launch a new production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest. The spreadsheet system was developed in ICT lessons and was branded with their production company logos. I designed this activity in Google Sheets, although the instructions could easily be modified to be run in Excel. The PowerPoint that accompanies this activity would need to be slightly modified, as indicated.

Essentially, the system uses conditional formatting to count the number of adult and child seats, multiplies these with the ticket price to get the total cost for the adults and for the children. Allows the user to select the movie (which then automatically displays the screen), the date and time of the showing. All of this information is transferred to a ticket ready for printing.
