The second of 4 FULL LESSONs on introducing and using circle theorems.
The two theorems considered in this lesson are:

  • Angles in the same segment are equal.
  • Opposite angles in a cyclic quadrilateral add up to 180.

Contents of download:

  • Normal PowerPoint lesson with which you can use a clicker / mouse / keyboard to continue animations and show fully animated and worked solutions.
  • Worksheets for proofs / examples and exercises (Separated or together depending on how you would like to print for your students). I personally print the ‘together’ worksheets to save on printing and then use Worksheet 3 to finish.

We are learning about: Circle theorems: Part 2
We are learning to: Calculate the missing angles in a circle using circle theorems.

Differentiated objectives:

  • Developing learners will be able to apply circle theorems to find missing angles.
  • Secure learners will be able to justify, with reason, the circle theorems they apply to find missing angles.
  • Excelling learners will be able to solve unfamiliar problems using circle theorems.

Main: Walked through examples followed by practice questions on worksheets. Starts with basic questions on the just-introduced theorem moving onto exam style questions using each of the theorems previously introduced. All solutions given on PPT and in worksheet format.
