Project-based learning. Students are presented with a scenario in which they are required to observe, collect data, assess and respond to the problem . It worked well with my year 7 class and they were engaged during all inquiry based activities.

**Task: **As a group of geologists your team leader has asked you to classify rock samples taken from a potential building site and report back on the suitability of the rocks as a foundation for building a bridge.

Alarm model is used to answer long response questions.
