This is a HUGE 60+ page resource designed to support the colourful informative text by Isaiah Firebrace entitled: “Come Together: What Every Aussie Kid Should Know about the First Peoples”. This book gives 25 key examples of significant Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, from Art and Music to NAIDOC Week and Reconciliation. It was also shortlisted for the Eve Pownell Award in the CBCA 2023 Awards.

This meticulously crafted Student Workbook is aimed for use by Stage Two and Stage Three students, and is also designed to complement elements of the History and Geography curriculum content for these stages . There is also a strong theme in this book of conservation and togetherness. This workbook is your perfect teaching companion to teach students about the depth and richness of First Nations culture.

Also included is a set of ten full-colour Literature Circle Task Cards. Activities are not only designed to be completely independent, but involve a high-degree of student choice to build engagement. Persuasive, informative and imaginative writing prompts are included, as well as integrated Creative Arts activities.
All printables for literacy tasks are included, and many of these can be adapted for many other books, both fiction and non-fiction.

The workbook is divided into page-by-page sections, with every element of the book covered as a separate worksheet. It would seamlessly be integrated into whole class or small group learning.

Whilst this resource is based on the book Come Together, it could also be used as a stand-alone resource to teach students about First Nations culture.

The workbook features:

  • Comprehension Questions
  • Creative Responses: Encourage creativity in your classroom!
  • Research Questions: Promote independent research skills with thought-provoking research questions. Empower your students to explore and learn beyond the book, fostering a love for self-directed learning.
  • Vocabulary Tasks
  • Critical Thinking
  • Answer Section
  • Aligned with Australian Curriculum.

Whether “Come Together” is part of your classroom curriculum or supplementary reading, this resource will elevate the learning experience for your students.

I have many other literature-based resources in my store (most of them Australian, so feel free to check them out).

Happy reading!
