Comparing Numbers of Objects

This lesson plan aligns with Oklahoma academic standard PK.N.3.1, in which students will learn to compare two groups of up to 5 objects using the words more, fewer, or same. There are 15 sheets with Alligator Andy and two boxes of snacks. Begin by explaining to your students that Andy Alligator eats a lot and wants the box with more snacks. Ask them which box he would rather have. Hold up the sheet and ask them to count the number of snacks in each box. When they are finished counting, ask them which one Alligator Andy prefers. When you assess students, ask them individually to count the snacks in each box and tell you which has more. Use the number of sheets you believe is needed to teach the class and the rest to assess.
