This literacy resource for Key Stage 1 focuses on consonant blends with the letter R.
The main objectives are to help children identify and use consonant blends with R, to improve their handwriting, spelling, reading and to build vocabulary.

Symbols and visual aids are used to support learning. Additionally, children are taught that the letter W is silent when it precedes R, as in “write” and “wrist.”

The resource includes five colourful worksheets and their black-and-white counterparts, each designed to help children recognize and practice these blends.
Each page targets specific blends:
Page 1 covers “br” and “cr”
Page 2 focuses on “dr” and “fr”
Page 3 highlights “gr” and “wr”
Page 4 addresses “pr” and “tr”
The final page serves as an assessment, combining blends from the previous pages (“br,” “fr,” “tr,” and “gr”).
Children are tasked with writing the words under their corresponding pictures. The words are displayed along the right side of each worksheet in dotted form, which children trace before writing them independently.
Boardmaker licenced.
