Core Topic 1: Crime - fundamental concepts

This learning resources is focused for the NSW HSC Year 12 Legal Studies course. Successful legal studies students need to have a very good understanding for the key concepts and vocabulary used in the core topic of crime.

This learning resource is the first of a series of three resources for the HSC course core topic on crime. The resource consists of 150 vocabulary terms that are frequently used in the following sub topics:

• The nature and meaning of crime
• The criminal investigation
• The trial process
• Sentencing and punishment
• Young offenders
• International crime

The learning resource can be used in a variety of ways such as a class based activity, student class notes, revision/ examination preparation activity or a classroom wall chart.
