A great competition based lesson to encourage creativity with tessellations.
The fully animated PowerPoint introduces the concept of tessellation while getting students to work as a team to find as many unique tessellations as possible. The file includes a set of blind instructions for drawing the crooked star - which always produces some great results - and animated slides to get across what the students are trying to achieve.
This lesson can comfortably run for 1-2 lessons as a team competition.
Also included are printable crooked star templates drawn on a 1 cm grid, to support those students struggling with drawing the star, or those wanting to use mirrored stars more easily.
