This is a great project i do with year 8. It brings together, traditional hand cutting, CAD/CAM, Electronics and Computer programming.
Brief: Students are to design and make a programmable robotic buggy.
Outline: Students design a profile, prototype out of card board, then cut out of acrylic using a scroll/coping saw. Wheels are designed then cut out using the laser cutter. Circuit board is soldered together. Genie chip is programmed to bring the buggy to life.
Recommended time frame is around 13/14 weeks (double lessons)
Included:
- Lesson plans
- Editable work book
- Power Point presentation on robots and sensors
