This download is designed to help Year 4 children find and identify grammar features for a diary based on Ben Miller’s ‘The Diary of a Big Bad Wolf’.

The download includes a PowerPoint presentation which includes two different diary examples (second one is the independent activity) and slides which explain the grammar features with examples for each: a title, greeting/sign off, first person, past tense, paragraphs, fronted adverbials, subordinate clauses, emotive language, similes, metaphors and rhetorical questions.

The independent activity allows children to find the features and also provides answers.

The PowerPoint and activity can be adapted for KS2.
