A fully planned, resourced and ready to teach scheme of work for Different Cultures, aimed primarily at Year 7 (but can be adapted to suit Year 8 and 9). Included is a unit overview, weekly lessons plans, a PowerPoint to accompany each lesson as well as all resources needed (differentiated ones included). The unit looks at many different poems from Limbo and Half Caste to Island Man, Jamaica Market and Blessing. All lessons cover reading, writing and spoken language skills and also includes a writing assessment.

This is one of the best designed poetry resources I have found on TES. It's clearly been designed by a teacher who has been in a classroom and delivered the lessons. <br /> <br /> The PPTs are colourful and have caught the attention of the mixed ability Year 9s. The supporting documents are also very useful and can be used (or not) depending on the teacher's expectations, experience and/or including differentiation. <br /> <br /> I tinker with the PPTs and add a slide or two to suit my lessons and I compliment the worksheets with my own stuff. There are YT videos that can be used with some of the poems and help get all the kinaesthetic learners on task. My point is the bulk of the work has been superbly done by SuziQ (the uploader) and I only have to make small changes. <br /> <br /> The lessons would work equally well in large classes or mainstream schools. They could work in either key stage if a decent teacher was to deliver them.
