Looking for an end of term fun lesson? Have access to tablet/I-pad resources enough for 1:2? Want your students to practice retrieval of square and prime numbers less than 100? Want some structure to your lesson? To keep things tight but not look like a massive bore?
This lesson uses a series of 5 min, 1 on 1 games of, what is essentially snakes and ladders, to allow students to develop a winning strategy to move themselves to the top table (division one). Square numbers are ladders (move forward 11), primes are snakes (move back 10).
If you’re on an even number what type of number should you require to avoid a prime? What about if you are on an odd square?
Students win a game and are promoted to a higher level table. Lose and are relegated to a junior table. Can you move to the top table and make it to the live final and be crowned ‘Dump the Dive Champion’ (to the tune of God Save the Queen).
