Useful for group revision, or if you have a spare 15 minutes during a lesson.

  1. Students work in groups of 3-5. Each group is given an A3 piece of paper which has all the major characters for this course (printing in colour would be best for this task).

  2. Students take it in turn to choose a character, and to write it down, making sure that no one else in the group sees (alternatively you could print another sheet off and cut the characters up into envelopes. The students can choose from the envelope at random, whilst the others still have the A3 sheet in front of them).

  3. The other members of the group take it in turns to ask yes or no questions (for example, is your character a monarch?).

  4. Once a person is ready to guess who, they may do so on their turn. But if they get it wrong they must skip their next go.

  5. The first person to guess the character wins, and gains a point. The person with the most points at the end of the game wins.

Alternatives - The group could work together to guess the character, but are only allowed to ask eight questions.

I tried this with my year 10s and they really enjoyed it. If you have any feedback, or if you adapted it to make it better, please let me know.
