Bring drama into your classroom with this engaging, informative and no prep activity.
Exploring the world of conservation and biodiversity, this informative drama circle activity is designed to educate and engage students by adding practical elements to a reading activity. This interactive experience offers a unique way to practically explore the topic of endangered animals.
What is a Drama Circle?
A drama circle is a practical way to explore information. In drama circle activities, each student gets a card at random. They have to listen for a cue, read a small paragraph in bold and then perform an action or gesture in order to cue the next person. The class collaborate together to make sure they read their cards in order (don’t worry, they are numbered if you get lost!).
What’s included?
- 34 cards including an introduction and summary card
- Each card features a different endangered animal
- Each card includes accurate information and current conservation status
- Teacher Instructions
This activity inspires empathy, creativity, and environmental awareness. So, you have to teach students about 32 endangered animals? Instead of reading 32 fact files and highlighting information (BORING), why not try this drama circle? It’s perfect for KS2 and KS3 classrooms and requires no prior acting experience (don’t panic!). It can also be differentiated and tailored to suit various group sizes and confidence levels.
With its blend of education and entertainment, this activity promises an unforgettable experience that sparks conversation and instills a passion for protecting our planet’s most vulnerable inhabitants.
