These resources have been designed for Entry Level 3 students working towards Functional Skills English qualifications at Level 1 (Edexcel-Pearson, NCFE, City and Guilds, AQA, Highfield Qualifications, NOCN, Open Awards). It contains a 96-page workbook and a 200-slide PowerPoint lesson on spelling.
These resources will help pupils to learn how to spell the words required at Level 1 ( words used most often in work, study and daily life, including specialist words). The editable PowerPoint lesson clearly explains common spelling rules and patterns, tricky words, suffixes, prefixes, hyphenated words, plurals, common errors and tips on how to remember and improve spelling with memory aids and by breaking down words into their syllables.
Workbook
The 96-page workbook includes 33 information pages, 61 worksheets and 2 progress checks. The workbook is provided in PDF and an editable PowerPoint version. It can be used for classwork, homework, revision or as an independent learning pack.
Powerpoint Lesson
The editable PowerPoint lesson explains common spelling rules and patterns, tricky words, suffixes, prefixes, hyphenated words, plurals, common errors and tips on how to remember and improve spelling with memory aids and by breaking down words into their syllables.
The PowerPoint also contains a link to a video on Level 1 Functional Skills spelling. It is ideal for introducing the spelling component of the specification and for revision purposes.
