A resource to support pupil progress in writing equations and solving in the context of properties of shape. A teacher may choose to use individual questions as a timed activity, as cards distributed around a group for work at their own pace, photocopied onto A3 paper so a group of pupils can work collaboratively and then share their methods with the rest of the group. Pupils may also create their own problems to challenge each other. I have found that there is a positive response to the challenge and pupil understanding is more likely to be embedded through collaborative practice. It is also useful to consider extension questions that could be posed beyond the basic problem presented.
