This practical is a requirement within the new Pearson BTEC Level 3 specification (Unit 19 - Assignment A).
This investigation consists of three parts: an initial titration to standardise hydrochloric acid; a dilution; and a final titration to determine the concentration of sodium bicarbonate in bottled water. This is an excellent investigation to assess volumetric technique over a number of experiments, giving students a real sense of ownership and application.
