A menu of 18 forest school and outdoor learning activities tasks for Nursery or Reception (Early Years) They can be used in school or nursery as planning or can be sent home as a home learning menu.
There are a total of 18 activities that can easily be done with few resources. This makes them easy to do at school or at home with parents/guardians.
Activities are practical using items children can find in the outdoors and/or at home. There are key questions to guide parents delivering the activities at home. The activities are all based outdoors and are woodland/forest school type activities. They cover all areas of the EYFS curriculum. There are art, building, science, imaginative activities etc. There are lots of opportunities for children to develop personal and social skills, communication skills and physical skills throughout. There are some risk taking activities such as those using tools or working around fire. There aren’t any stand alone phonics or number activities but these subjects are addressed in other activities e.g. where writing or counting is involved.
Can be used as planning with support for staff or sent out during school closures, to support remote learning or as a homework or home learning grid.
