A simple worksheet that I use as an extension task when adding fractions.
Egyptians only used unit fractions, so to write 3/8 they had to use 1/4 and 1/8. There is the added complication that the same unit fraction could only be used once. Students are shown some examples and need to attempt some for themselves.
Students quite enjoy this challenge and have had some great discussions.
I use this with the Nrich resource here as it allows students to check their answers and can be used to discuss how they used the Eye of Horus to represent fractions.
