This is a complete unit of work that supports KS3 students to read, understand and analyse linguistic features in Pullman’s play version of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. It includes a formative assessment and summative assessment that evaluate students’ ability to evaluate how the writer uses language and structure to present the Monster. Students also use detailed understanding of the Gothic genre, the historical/social context of the story and exploration of the ideas of nature vs nurture to write about the text. Students also discuss symbolism.
