French numbers and months

A lesson on numbers and months to practise how to say when your birthday is. An extension task is provided for each task to cater for the more able students.

STARTER: match questions to the correct answers (all in French). This is basic language that should have been covered in the first introductory lessons (greetings, my name is, age, I live in).

LANGUAGE INPUT: teacher introduces numbers up to 31 and shows a video about numbers so students can hear the correct pronunciation. Finally, the teacher introduces the months.

TASK 1: speaking practice about ‘c’est quand, ton anniversaire?’. Students practise in pairs.
TASK 2: writing task where students need to write the birthday of five different people spelled out in letters using the words ‘mon anniversaire, c’est…’ (eg. 20/1 = mon anniversaire, c’est levingt janvier).
PLENARY: check for understanding using red/amber/green.
