GCSE History American West lesson for KS4 on lives of Plains Indians on reservations after the Battle of the Little Bighorn. Students review conditions Plains Indians were faced with and the impact it had on their way of life, the tribe and the chiefs. They will examine the views of those in Government who were pro and anti the Plains Indians. The lesson also includes details of the impact of Dawes Act in the reservations.
Students can participate in a group discussion activity - having adopted a particular stance - and this is followed by a written exercise to enable consolidation of the content.
A lesson plan is included at end of presentation along with a couple of ideas for extra resources.
