Competition revision lessons for all edexcel GCSE Physics topics 1-15. Each class is split into 2 teams “A Vs B” and they compete against each other at the end of every topic before an end of topic assessment.
It has proven to be a very successful way of engaging my students to revise for their topic tests, recall all necessary content and think in a high pressure situation whilst competing to gain points for their team.
Round 1: traffic lights; all students hold reveal their choices after a countdown by the teacher. team with most correct gets 1pt (if numbers are uneven try team with most incorrect loses point) anyone to show their colour too soon is DQ’s for that question.
Bonus head to heads: I award 2 pts for these and select players to go head to head at the front of the class. Even use an object to be taken by the first player for added competition
Round 2: Anagrams. Students work in their teams to be the first to complete all anagrams and submit answers before the other team.
Bonus anagrams: 2-3pts individual task one answer each max
Round 3: 5 player head to head - 5 students go head to head one by one on explanation questions at the front to score points for their team.
Bonus questions: to keep the drama going every person for themselves for the win
