GCSE Poetry: The Emigree by Carol Rumens

This beautifully illustrated power point lesson has proven to be extremely engaging for pupils in my own classroom. This 17 slide lesson explores the meaning of Rumens’ text through a series of structured tasks and academic writing. This presentation contains a starter activity, a brief poet biography and text overview, content language and structure questions, an academic writing task, an extension task and a plenary. I have used this particular resource in class to lead my teaching, I have used it as a revision tool and also as a homework assignment – all have worked well for the students.
