Write the opening of a story inspired by this picture.
Show your students this picture and ask them to write the beginning of a story inspired by the picture.
Once they have had a go at the task themselves hear a few read out and discuss good points and areas that could be improved. Then read them the example story.
Ask them if there is anything in the example story that might help them with their own stories. Have a class discussion. From the outcome of the discussion ask them to revise, re-write and edit their own stories. They can try to improve their own stories by using techniques and ideas from the example story.
