GERMAN DAYS MONTHS SEASONS WORD SEARCHES

10 DIFFERENTIATED GERMAN WORD SEARCHES I designed these ten differentiated word searches for my learners to practise their German days, months and seasons vocab. I always give my students an answer key - they like to learn independently, and they can check their own work, and also peer assess when they have an answer key - it’s an extra chance to consolidate vocab too. Word searches often get a bit of a bad press, but with progressive differentiation and challenges, they are not just an ‘easy option’, they really do promote good learning. I’ve also included several related time nouns, such as the week, the month, the year, so that students can practise those words too.

There are 8 GERMAN to ENGLISH grids, where students are prompted with the GERMAN word, and and look for them in GERMAN in the grid. There are also 2 ENGLISH to GERMAN grids, where the prompt words are given in ENGLISH, and students have to find the GERMAN equivalent in the grid. There’s also a grid template for students to create word searches for each other - they really enjoy this, and it also allows them to work with their German more actively. Students are prompted for their name and the date, which is useful for monitoring their work.
