For practising ‘show, don’t tell’ and related writing and composition skills
This three-page worksheet encourages children to write using ‘show, don’t tell’ skills to the best of their ability. Children are asked to describe different scenarios and leave ‘clues’ for the reader. There are helpful prompts on each page.
Page 1 has a ‘show, don’t tell’ example paragraph on a location and children are asked to write a similar paragraph giving the reader clues to the location they write about.
Page 2 has a ‘show, don’t tell’ example paragraph on an emotion and children are asked to write a similar paragraph - giving the reader clues to the emotion they write about.
Page 3 has an extension task including a ‘show, don’t tell’ example paragraph on a place AND emotion and children are asked to write a similar paragraph - giving the reader clues to the place AND emotion they write about.
One child can work through all three sheets, or they can be used as standalone sheets.
