This is an inquiry-based, structured and fully scaffolded lesson sequence on Humanitarian Intervention, with a specific focus on the NATO intervention in Libya in 2011. It is designed for IBDP Global Politics and is fully aligned to both the current syllabus and the new syllabus with first assessment in 2026.

The lesson balances conceptual rigour with accessibility. Complex political ideas such as sovereignty, legitimacy, power, justice and human rights are broken down into manageable sections without excessive heavy reading. Everything is organised into clear, accessible chunks suitable for mixed-ability and EAL cohorts.

There are seven structured tasks, all differentiated, with all resources provided including readings and videos. The lesson is discussion-based but carefully engineered to build analytical depth and exam skills. Students move from conceptual framing, to case study evaluation, to political rhetoric analysis, to Just War application, to institutional power, before completing a fully scaffolded Paper 2 Section B essay plan.

This resource will comfortably cover at least two hour-long lessons due to the depth of analysis required in the later tasks.

The download includes:
• A clean, professional PowerPoint designed to provoke discussion and structure thinking
• A fully structured student workbook in Word format
• Links to videos included in the slide notes and the ZIP file
• Relevant supporting articles provided in an accessible format

There is no branding or unnecessary gimmicks. The slides are clean, editable and easily adaptable. The resource transfers seamlessly to Teams, Google Classroom or other online platforms and also works effectively as a paper-based lesson.

This is a rigorous, concept-led lesson designed to prepare students directly for examination success while maintaining intellectual depth and accessibility.
