Going beyond core values - Embedding values literacy

Schools have a set of core values but there is now a much higher priority attached to the need for 'values literacy', which empowers children in their character development and management of their wellbeing thereby allowing their academic development to thrive.

Studying values, as an integral part of the curriculum mix, provides an abundance of teachable moments. All subject leaders can highlight how values have shaped the past, are influencing the present and their conscious application will determine our future.

SMSC assessments will include evidence of effectively embedding values.
