A 2 part lesson based on Picasso’s Guernica painting.
Fits into War Art, Political Art, Mixed Media units of work.
Suitable for Art Key Stage 3 & 4 . Reflective, analysis and creative.
Students to first explore the work of Guernica by Picasso and self investigate the artwork, its context, imagery, purpose, expression, colour palette, etc using prompts on first worksheet and on-line information.
This analysing Guernica lesson forces reflection and thinking about the work.
Second lesson is a mixed media creative response to Picasso’s Guernica. Using found materials at home, they will create an A4 mixed media response to current events and imagery from Guernica (newspapers, printed on-line articles, then drawing on top).
I intend when school is back to normal to treasure these powerful pieces as a reflection of the moment we find ourselves in and hope that this can become a wider project.
