A 7 page differentiated reading extract assessment paper from chapter 34 of the novel, ‘Holes’ by Louis Sachar.

The layout of the assessment reflects the question style and format of the GCSE English language and Literature papers. (List questions, questions on building tension, questions on writer’s technique, how and why questions).

Questions and sections of the paper are differentiated (even for most able pupils) and get progressively more challenging to reflect the content and style of the GCSE English Language and Literature papers. This prepares pupils for year10 and year 11.

Each question has a score awarded and every line of the extract is numbered as in the GCSE examination so, for each question, pupils are signposted to specific parts of extract making it more accessible.
