Human Evolution & Out of Africa Theory

Please bear in mind that (as per description) some related interactive whiteboard files that I created could not be attached due to incompatible file type with TES site- these do contain the stages you suggest. Free resource- you can adapt to your own needs by adding stages yourself or through explicit teaching (things are typically explicated by the teacher/can't put everything in worksheets). Alternatively, you could/should get students to find out stages themselves inquiry based learning/group work etc. as we teachers should not just spoon feed content- variety of learning activities and approaches needed for effective teaching- up to you how you go about it. This is just a framework.

P.S. also thinking based using visual stimuli (images)- get students to think and create their own ideas before you tell them too much- classroom is not just about content but using and developing skills.

Hi gdouse these stages are there (in interactive smartnote files timeline interactive) and images are meant to be a stimulus to allow students to think rather than have them bogged down in rheems of notes (better to get students to think/do rather than teacher all the time). Also bear in mind that the syllabus for which this was created requires only brief understanding of human evolution as part of the Year 7 History overview topic (that is, it is not for science or something deeper but simply a quick understanding of the theory of human evolution which is completed by discussion and study of alternate explanations of human origins + Out of Africa theory and Multi-Pocket theories and leading into the main focus of human settlement for farming/river civilisatons). You can , of course, always complement this with additional teaching and other resources if you feel the need to deeper or something.
