Liked this idea. I'm going to try it soon as consolidation. I assume that the 'sum is prime' means that the sum of the answers is prime. Their sum is 41 and this is the answer given in the solution.
8453377013 isn't prime... (23 is a factor) 8747503133 isn't prime... (5231 is a factor) ? Nice activity for BODMAS/BIDMAS though
I quite like this. The number that I think we are looking for is 8747503133. This is reading off the answers row by row instead of columns. Like me it will take a little while for students to work out how to get this final answer but I will have the following website on the board so that they can come up and test what they think the answer is: http://www.bigprimes.net/primality_test/
