A one-period lesson that begins with students viewing a YouTube clip and making notes on Bismarck’s system of alliances prior to his dismissal in 1890. The written task is a diagram that is then meant to be debriefed with a teacher-led discussion. The lesson was originally designed for a mixed HL/SL class where only one class period per week is devoted to HL. The PowerPoint format could easily be edited and adapted for other grade levels and curricula.
