This resource has been created for children to work on independently during Guided Reading sessions. The different activities aim to develop a range of reading skills. It is best used when children have a good range of books accessible at their reading level. It is important to choose books that would work for the task, i.e. non-fiction for the Fact Hunt sheet or books with certain digraphs for the Sound Hunt sheet. Adults would then work directly with guided groups on a learning objective/focus, while the others were engaged independently. This resource is suitable for KS1 but can be used with KS2 if appropriate.
Top Tip: I group the children according to their reading level, book band or book shelf. I then select a range of books from a level they would be comfortable reading.
