Young people want to know how to actively combat climate change.
They do not just want to know the theory of climate change. They want to BE empowered as problem-solvers AND they want educators to have the resources to start conversations with them and link subject content to real-life challenges and solutions.

All teachers need practical ways to integrate climate education into their lessons, whatever their subject, and across the whole school to empower every student .

This toolkit uses Futures Literacy methods to connect students to climate, sustainability and nature. It builds essential 21st Century Competencies including longer term thinking as a green skill.

This toolkit gives step-by-step guidance to teachers to take an experiential learning-by-doing approach to show students how to do Horizon Scanning and find signals of change in their subject, enabling students to find present day solutions that are shaping futures.

Having experienced the process, students can use it as:

Lesson Starter or Finish.
Exploration of any topic.

The toolkit includes worksheet templates, teacher assessment and self-assessment criteria to make it easy to observe and assess competencies being developed.

The toolkit can be used across all subjects and for bigger projects that involve a whole year group and/or your whole school community.
