A set of estimation questions, inspired by news articles and pop culture. This is sort of Fermi Estimation and is thus quite unstructured. There are some suggested questions, but this activity is intended to be completed in groups to promote discussion and critical thinking.
I suggest cutting out the separate statements and removing those you don't like or don't want to use. In the class, put students into groups and nominate an individual from each group to pick out one of the face-down questions. They can discuss it in their group, and swap it for another when they've all reached an answer.
