This power point and accompanying worksheets introduces key aspects of practical activities and reminds pupils of basic skills involved in recording results, including rules from drawing tables, recording results to correct decimal places, referencing research sources and uncertainty in readings. All the information is based on the OCR Practical handbook. Also included (and referenced in the power point) is a blank feedback sheet for you to use in practicals which relates directly to the 1.2.1 and 1.2.2 skills from the OCR practical handbook and therefore make filling in the tracker straight forward; and a student tracker which pupils can use to keep track of which skills they are achieving and where they need to improve. Additionally, there are worksheets which provide images of various equipment (to avoid misuse of terms), summary sheets about rounding/significant figures, table rules, titration tables, uncertainty and units. Lastly there is a practice sheet for pupils to practice reading equipment to appropriate decimal places, estimate the uncertainty in each piece of equipment and calculate uncertainty in a range of situations, with answers.
