This is a fully comprehensive unit of work, which should cover approximately 7-8 weeks worth of lessons (based on 5 hours a week). It aims to introduce students to the four theoretical frameworks of the AQA A Level Media Studies course. It also covers a brief introduction to different media forms that the students will need to be familiar with. There are exemplar answers, exam questions and a homework booklet covering a range of iconic media products designed to supplement students’ learning. This unit aims to introduce students to every theory that the exam board requires them to know about and has a specific focus on unseen media language, unseen media theory question and questions 5.1 and 5,2. The aim would be to give students an understanding of the different theories and frameworks prior to studying any products in depth. The selected products are considered iconic too, which will help students to link to wider examples from the media industry.
