Introduction to GCSE English - inference and language analysis

The pack contains two 1.5 houre lessons that have been designed as an introduction to GCSE English but can be easily adapted to teach reading and writing skills at any time throughout the academic year.
The following resources are included:
A PowerPoint containing ice breakers as well as an overview of the course.
There is a jargon-busting clear explanation of AO1.
A range of activities designed to teach the key skills of inference and language techniques.
A handout containing easy to understand definitions of essential language terminology for GCSE English language.
There is a starter activity designed to capture learning from the previous lesson and to practise the skill of inference.
A diagnostic assessment has also been included.
