The format of this lesson was designed for pupils who struggle with too much writing. This lesson was written for my year 8 KS3 class. The lesson is designed to last around an hour but can be adapted for shorter or longer times. The lesson doesn’t need IT access or a specialist lab, and can be used as a cover lesson if needed.
The lesson begins with a Do Now or Settler Task which is a cryptogram about The Halogens (a previous lesson in the scheme of work I’m using).
The first part of the lesson is an introduction to Polymers with information about them followed up by some short comprehension questions. There is then the main section of the lesson where students are given details about the properties of a range of polymers and asked to link the polymers to the most likely product that they are made into.
The lesson ends with some exam style questions and a plenary that gives the pupils the opportunity to write about what they have learned.
