Whole class activity to algebraic operations. Covers solving equations, expanding brackets, factorising, substitution and forming equations/expressions.
Have students work individually or in pairs to answer questions on whiteboards. Have a student pick a category and amount (i.e. Solving 200), give them a time limit to answer the questions. If they get it correct they earn the points.
Excellent activity to engage students, revise as a whole class and assess student learning.
I like to use good examples of working and show them to the class to help correct any misconceptions. The level of difficulty increases with the points available.
