This is designed around the specifications for the new junior cycle award in the republic of Ireland (ages 12 to 15). The vocabulary is usually introduced via a Quizlet , then the class studies the extract and meets with the grammar at a later stage. It has been designed with the express purpose of avoiding printed English or explanations through the medium thereof and it is the teacher’s challenge to explain as they go. Each paragraph has an oral question at the end that can be answered by using vocabulary and phrases already met with in the text. Through repetition and greater exposure to the language, it has been successful as a model. All comments and recommendations are welcome.
