Katie Morag and the New Pier Literacy Pack

A set of resources based on the book by Mairi Hedderwick.
The literacy pack includes an introductory PowerPoint, 28 worksheets and 41 pages of Smart board notebook 10 files.
The PowerPoint introduces the book, covering author, title, illustrator, blurb, pre-reading questions, post-reading questions. The PowerPoint also highlights possible unfamiliar vocabulary and offers ideas for writing activities.
The worksheets are at 2 levels:
Level 1 – using contractions, using capital letters, punctuating sentences, sorting rhymes, making compound words, sorting long e words, filling in missing words, sorting facts and opinions, sequencing pictures, writing captions for pictures and completing speech bubbles.
Each of these worksheets is supported by an interactive Smart board 10 notebook file to aid teaching and provide extra practice for pupils.
Level 2 – matching halves of sentences, using capital letters, punctuating sentences, sorting words according to the number of syllables, a true/false activity, a who said? activity, sequencing pictures, writing captions for pictures and a completing speech bubbles.
Again, each of these worksheets is supported by an interactive Smart board 10 notebook file to aid teaching and provide extra practice for pupils.
