Your children may be struggling with anxiety in the run up to tests such as the SATs or 11+ examinations. This easy-to-learn system will give them a tool to help them manage their worries, feel more confident and perform better in the tests as a result.
EFT (“Emotional Freedom Technique”) is a simple, safe, scientifically proven method that helps to reduce stress in the body through the use of positive psychology and gentle tapping of acupressure points.
This technique is best introduced as a short 15 minute activity. It can then be revisited quickly at any time you feel the children need it, particularly just before a test.
You will most likely find the children will adopt this method easily and use it spontaneously to help themselves once they become accustomed to it, not just for test anxiety, but at anytime they feel strong emotions.
This resource pack consists of:
-
An editable 38 slide PowerPoint introduction and guided emotional regulation exercise to use before, or in the run up to, a test to help children quickly feel calm and focused. This can be used with no previous EFT knowledge as it explains the key principles of the technique and then guides you through three rounds of tapping with on screen prompts and tips and includes teaching notes.
-
A printable handout to accompany the lesson and which can be used to remind children of the sequence and wording for use at home with parents/carers.
-
A printable poster with the key acupressure points.
-
Printable bookmarks to help children remember the sequences for quick reference at any time they feel strong emotions.
This resource pack was designed for use with children aged 7-11 years old to be used both as an introduction to the technique and as a regular settling activity. Once learned, this valuable self regulation tool can be used at anytime to empower kids to positively manage their emotions and mental health.
