A six lesson unit of work introducing the theme of relationships and exploring two poems from the AQA Love and Relationships cluster.
Beginning with lyrics as performed by the Arctic Monkeys and John Cooper Clark's I Wanna Be Yours, these lessons look at annotation for imagery in love poems.
Assessment question is to compare the imagery in Elizabeth Barrett Browning's Sonnet 29 and Loves Philosophy by Shelly. Students will explore the positive and negative imager of nature in the poems and begin to annotate for poetic techniques.
Students will independently explore poems to create imagery for a Cento poem or to create own original poem communicating ideas about a relationship.
